Event Details
featuring Chris Thile, mandolin
Acclaimed Grammy Award–winning mandolinist, singer, songwriter, and MacArthur “Genius Grant” recipient Chris Thile is a multifaceted talent, described by The Guardian as "that rare being: an all-round musician who can settle into any style, from bluegrass to classical.” Thile joins the Wichita Symphony for his playfully ambitious autobiographical composition, ATTENTION! (a narrative song cycle for extroverted mandolinist and orchestra).
The evening’s storytelling begins with the vibrant energy of Quinn Mason’s Toast of the Town, followed by the quintessential American soundscape of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring. Join us for a genre-defying performance that blends symphonic tradition with the modern wit of one of today’s most brilliant musical minds.
